The Baroque chateau at Jeřice lies in the village of the same name, 4 km south-east of Hořice. The chateau has been a listed monument since 1989. The first written mention of the village of Jeřice dates from 1379. At this time the Jeřice manor with part of the village belonged to Mrzák and Zdeněk of Jeřice. Its remains can be found in the ground floor of the present chateau. During the 15th and 16th centuries a series of owners succeeded one another here. In 1665 Jan and Marie Magdalena Hilprandt acquired the Jeřice estate, and they had the old manor rebuilt as a four-winged single-storey Baroque chateau with an enclosed arcaded courtyard and a hexagonal tower at the north-eastern corner. In 1748 the chateau was purchased by Jan Daniel of Gastheim with his wife Marie Terezie of Paar, and after their death the estate was inherited by the nephew Jan Václav Paar. It was probably he who had late Baroque alterations carried out at some point between 1760 and 1780, which gave the chateau its present form. After the Paar family, in 1852 Jeřice was acquired by Baron Gagern, who however already in 1867 sold the chateau to the industrialist Josef Haney of Rokytnice. Under him a costly refurbishment of the interior in the pseudo-Renaissance style was carried out. The last pre-February owner was then from 1924 the landowner Josef Voženílek of Předměřice nad Labem. After 1945 an agricultural school was housed in the chateau, and from 1967 the Jičín district archive. The present owner of the chateau with its park and adjoining agricultural farm is Jaroslav Horák of Černilov, a grandson of Josef Voženílek. The chateau stands in the middle of a natural park adjoining the farm complex. The chateau is currently not open to the public.
