On the Czech-Austrian border, near the Dolní Dvořiště border crossing, lies the village of Tichá with its manor of the same name. This is not, strictly speaking, a manor but an early Gothic fortification that throughout the Middle Ages guarded the frequently contested border between the Kingdom of Bohemia and the Duchy of Austria. The site for the construction of the manor was not chosen by chance. The earliest archaeological finds from this location are dated to c. 1600 BC, and from time immemorial an important trade artery from Upper Austria into Bohemia passed through here. Its founder was perhaps Beneš Pyšný of Velešín in the second half of the 13th century. It later became an important fortified point of the Rožmberk domain and also served as a prison. Among the castellans who served here, Čáp of Radonic, who carried out structural repairs of the manor in the 15th century, deserves mention. After the Thirty Years' War it continued to serve as a farm support facility. Its conversion into a manorial brewery was only a temporary arrangement, and the remains of the manor eventually became a source of building material for the surrounding area. During the period when a border zone was established, soldiers of the border guard attempted to blow it up. The remains were purchased in 2008 jointly by the association Hrady na Malši and the municipality of Dolní Dvořiště, which through a unique reconstruction restored the original appearance of the manor and opened it to the public.
