The village of Domoušice lies approximately 45 minutes west of Prague in a tourist-attractive region. On the site of the original manor farmstead, a Baroque chateau with a spacious courtyard, barns, gardens, and further buildings was constructed around 1712. The chateau served primarily administrative and aristocratic purposes and consolidated the significance of the estate in the region. The estate was originally in the ownership of the chapter administrators of St Vitus and passed through several owners during the centuries, including the Kneisl family, Wenzl Johann Paul, Baron Jakub Wimmer, and Prince Josef Schwarzenberg, whose administration was connected with the surrounding forest lands and agricultural estates. After the founding of Czechoslovakia in 1918, the estate passed to the State Forest Administration and the chateau was used in part as offices for forest officials, with the barns serving the local cooperative and the main wing as residential apartments. After the Velvet Revolution of 1989 the chateau was gradually privatised, and in 2002 it was purchased by the Dunn-Astley-Corbett family, who are endeavouring to restore it to its original appearance. The chateau is a single-storey Baroque structure with a characteristic courtyard and adjoining agricultural buildings. The current restoration encompasses both the interiors and exteriors, with the aim of preserving the historical character and significance of the building in the region.
