Brodek u Prostějova is a Baroque, classically remodelled château built on the site of an earlier Renaissance manor. The appearance of that manor, which historically preceded the present Brodek château, is unknown. The new Baroque country seat was built between 1707 and 1710 by the Viennese architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach for Pavel Karel of Kleinburg. The result was a simple rectangular building with a columned portico on the entrance façade and an axial projecting bay on the garden façade. The addition of farm buildings on either side of the château created an honour court with a fountain and large stone vases of unusual form. His son Karel Bedřich sold Brodek in 1733 to Count Corfitz of Ulfelt, who had it remodelled in the Classical style between 1750 and 1755 to designs by the court builder A. Beduzzi. During the ownership of the Schrattenbachs (1766–1827) the previously free-standing lateral buildings were connected to the main château building by two Classicist gateways, virtually completing the architectural development of the château. In 1827 Count Gustav Josef Kalnoky acquired Brodek by marriage; his descendants made minor alterations to the interiors and façades. The present château is a rectangular, one-storey building with a mansard roof. On the transverse axis a massive central projecting bay protrudes from the garden façade, while on the opposite side there is a pilastered portico. Low farm buildings create, on the east side, an honour court with a fountain decorated with sculptures and the backdrop of Classicist gateways from the Schrattenbach period. On the transverse axis of the château, between the west projecting bay and the east columned portico, lies the entrance hall with the staircase. From the hall, two finely carved stone portals lead to longitudinal central corridors on either side. From the corridors the individual rooms and further stairways are accessible. The interiors retain remnants of Baroque stucco decoration and wall paintings. The château also has its own garden. The château complex is at present accessible only during events held there, at weddings, or by prior individual arrangement.
