A country house on Valentia Island built c. 1775 as a linen factory and converted to a residence in the 19th century by Sir Peter George Fitzgerald, the 19th Knight of Kerry, who planted Ireland's first subtropical gardens across the 50-acre estate. The grounds contain rare tree ferns from New Zealand, plants from South America and Chile, and a walled kitchen garden, never touched by frost due to the island's exceptionally mild Atlantic microclimate.
